Kamloops Rugby Club Members / Supporters /  Friends

As you may be aware, in October our home at the Kamloops Rugby Club was broken into and we had a substantial loss from theft totaling almost $7,000.

First and foremost we would like to thank all the people that have donated money and replacement items.  This is not only individuals but also many people and clubs from the Rugby community across BC. It is humbling to know how deep the rugby community is and how we pull together for each other in times like this.

Since the break in we’ve been working on a couple of initiatives that I wanted to share that with you now.

We have recently competed a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Assessment.

A CPTED assessment looks at ways to reduce crime and improve security by changing a property’s physical environment. We have recently had an assessment done and are awaiting the final results from the consultant. Results will include recommendations on how to improve overall security of the area, making it less attractive to criminal activity, and more welcoming and safe for the public.

We will be sharing results of the assessment with the City, and will be working with them to determine what they may be able to help us with, and what will be our responsibility to implement. Implementing

some or all of the recommendations will most likely include some additional costs to the club, but its not clear yet how much that will be.

We have setup an account with BC Amateur Sports Fund (BCASF) to accept donations to the club.

BCASF provides a safe and secure way to donate money to the club AND you will also get a Tax Receipt.

Through BCASF, money can be donated and directed to the Kamloops Rugby Club for projects such as improving security based on the CPTED results. We also have some other projects we are currently working on which you will be able to donate to if you wish. We’ll provide more info on that in the new year.
